Fall Lawn Care Guide for Atlanta Homeowners
Fall is one of the most important seasons for your yard in Georgia. What you do now affects how green and healthy your lawn looks next spring. Use this checklist to keep your Atlanta lawn in top shape.
1. Keep up with leaf removal
Thick layers of leaves block sunlight and trap moisture, which can lead to disease. Remove leaves regularly instead of waiting until all trees are bare. Our lawn care and landscaping services include seasonal leaf removal.
2. Adjust your mowing
Warm-season grasses common in Atlanta, like Bermuda and Zoysia, slow down as temperatures drop. Keep mowing as needed until growth stops, and avoid cutting more than one-third of the blade at a time.
3. Know your grass type before aerating or seeding
Timing depends on your grass. Cool-season grasses like fescue are usually aerated and overseeded in early fall, while warm-season grasses are typically aerated in late spring or early summer. If you are unsure which grass you have, we can take a look during a free estimate.
4. Clean up beds and trim shrubs
Remove dead annuals, refresh mulch and lightly shape shrubs. Fall cleanup makes spring much easier. See some of our finished yards in the project gallery.
